Had this place bookmarked and tried for 1st time on 2/15/13...took the boy...got there 6:30ish...place was packed but they had a 2 top open...ordered a large pepperoni & black olive with 1/2 of it covered with artichoke hearts, jalapenos, ground beef & 'shrooms... Liked the pizza crust better than Oscar's...more flavorful and a bit softer so I could fold it in half...like Oscar's cause they are a bit more generous with the toppings...like the Mellow cause I think overall the prices might be a bit better... All in all it was a good meal and customer service was top notch...was gonna go 3 stars cause I thought they were chintzy with the toppings especially at $2.29/ topping on a large pizza! But the draft beer selection got them the 4th star...enjoyed a Blacksmith (Guinness & Smithwicke) which they call an Irish Split at the Mellow. I'll be back again and if over by LSU and feeling like pizza give it a try!!

Tonight for the first time had the mushroom soup and the Brutus salad with jerk chicken added. Both were excellent. The mushroom soup was piping hot, well proportioned, and full of flavor. The Brutus salad is from their local menu section and is a variation on a traditional Caesar with Kalamata olives, grilled portabella, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and feta. Also, since LSU is not in session in July, the place was quiet and enjoyable, and the service was super. Still at three stars.

Jerk Chicken Hoagie very good and reasonably priced. I'll be back to try other menu items.

I've been back several times since my original review and always have excellent food! Since the first review, I've tried the hummus and bruschetta- both great. I also tried the cookie sundae which was pretty good. Also, if you add the location on facebook you'll get their happy hour deals-- tonight was $4 bloody mary's and mimosas, $2 jager and rumpleminz, and $1 off drafts. Good deal!

Oh it's just the best freaking pizza I've ever had in my life! It's like I got really stoned and fell asleep and had an amazing dream about a pizza with all my favorite toppings and mellow mushroom went out and made it!

Best Pizza place in Baton Rouge. They accommodate to allergy and food restrictions. Their gluten-free pizza crust is crunchy goodness. Love their food but not their prices.

These have been popping up all over the southeast for that past few years and for good reason. The quality of ingredients is good and their recipes are more creative than your standard, run of the mill chains like Pizza Hut or whatever. My only complaint would be that their crust is a little bit too chewy.

Great beer and great pizza. What more can you say? Fridays boast a great wine night (half off any bottle and buy one get one by the glass) and if vino isn't your thing, Mellow has an awesome beer selection. As a vegan, I can say this place is highly concious and respectful of dietary restrictions. They've never made a mistake with my order and always go above and beyond to make sure everything comes out right!

We heard that Mellow Mushroom had a trivia nite that also features bottomless drinks for two hours. For $10 you get a GEAUX cup and you have a choice of several hard liquors (rails, Jack Daniels, Capt Morgan, stoli), beer or the house speciality drink Shroom tea. Trivia starts at 8 PM. We arrived at 7:40 and snagged one of the last tables inside. Our server was great, explaining how the GEAUX cup worked and telling us about the menu. I started with the Shroom tea. It was very strong and very sweet. Kind of tasted like spiked look aide, so I switched to Captain and Coke. We ordered some hot wings and a split pizza, half Blue Bayou and half Holy Shiitake. We were disappointed with the wings. They were cooked, but the skin was soft and the sauce was not hot at all. Good flavor, but no heat. The pizza left us conflicted. The crust was really good: light, chewy in the middle yet crispy outside and dusted with corn meal. The toppings were another story. There was no flavor from the Blue Bayou. No bite from the Blue cheese or andoulie sausage. The holy Shiitake was no better. Although it was well topped with Shiitake, the creamy cheese drizzle tasted like hot mayonnaise. The combination of the two strong flavors dominated everything else on the pizza. We did see some really good looking sandwiches pass our table, and the one topping slices smelled great. We enjoyed the trivia. It was well organized. We did feel a bit out of place, being the only people over 30 in the joint after 9 PM. Maybe it was the GEAUX cup promotion, but no one seemed to notice. Although we did not enjoy our food, we had fun at trivia, drank our fill for $10, and saw some good looking food. We are willing to give Mellow a second chance.

Who can beat $2 Tuesdays? When I first came here with my sister, I saw the "hippieish" vibe going on. I was kind of turned off by that, but the food is what everyone cares about. The food, spectacular. When I come to Mellow Mushroom, I always get the sweet tea. In my opinion, it has the best sweet tea in Baton Rouge. But as I always say, everyone is different. The first time I came, we got the Thai Dye Pizza. Yum. It had curry sauce and whole tomatoes. Though kind of pricey, it was wonderful. The reason why I always come here, however, is $2 slice Tuesday. For $2, you get a one-topping slice of pizza. Let me tell you, these slices are HUGE. They are face size. Maybe even 1/3 the size of a whole pizza. It is thin style. Greasy deliciousness. I am always full for the night on Tuesdays thanks to Mellow Mushroom!

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite Baton Rouge pizza spots. The crust is delicious and they are generous with toppings and cheese. It is definitely steps above the other pizza chains. I visited yesterday for the Tuesday $2 special, which by the way is one of THE best deals in town. I received two large pizza slices (with pepperoni and beef). Both slices were hot, tasty and made to order. Unfortunately, the service I received from the rude, curt server taking my order significantly turned me off. I plan to visit again, but hope to not encounter the bad attitude.

My first experience here was great! Fun and welcoming atmosphere and friendly faces is the perfect way to start dinner. Our server was prompt and pleasant. We started with pretzel bites with cheddar beer sauce. It was good, the pretzels could have been cooked a tad longer but we still enjoyed them. The mighty meat pizza was to follow and it did not disappoint. Everything taste fresh and made to order. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

I'm a fan of Mellow Mushroom and have lived several places with one (Athens, GA, Summerville, SC, and Birmingham, AL). The food is consistent, which is a plus. This location is a bit more dive-y than some, but I don't consider that a flaw. The waitstaff is always nice here, and they have good beer on tap. My only complaint is that they don't have a detailed draught beer menu (they list, for example, "Abita Seasonal"), but I understand how this could be tedious to maintain.

I visited this place on a Thursday night while traveling on vacation. Great little college-esque pizza joint, with some radical drink deals. Their spin on pizza is unique and tasty. They have huge TVs all over the place with a pretty strong line up of beers on tap. This would be my Thursday/Friday night hangout spot if I were an LSU student.

Baton Rouge is not a pizza town, but the pizza here is the best they have in this city. Definitely geared to college kids with the music selection, so if you don't like rap/hiphop get it to go.

One of our friends can't eat gluten, so we ordered 2 large pizzas on GF crust. The waitress took our name and number, but neglected to tell us that they didn't make large GF pizzas or call us before we came to pick up the order (she was new). Once the pizzas made their way home, I was really disappointed with the GF crust and overall level of toppings.

Overall, I will be back when I want a good pizza and want a fun atmosphere to hang out in. I went one day because I was in the neighborhood and wanted to try it out after hearing about a Yelp Elite Event that took place at one over in NOLA. I went at about 4:30 when things were pretty slow. I guess I am fairly happy about the service, though the waitress could have ben a bit more willing to help me pick something. I wanted some suggestions, but she didn't seem too thrilled to answer my questions. I got a thing of the spinach and artichoke dip with a small Mighty Meat pizza. I enjoyed both of them, The spinach and artichoke dip was creamy and had a good consistency and the toast that comes with it is nice too. My pizza was delicious. Lots of toppings, good crust. I am not really sure if there were any noticeable flaws in the pizza at all. I asked for them to switch out the pepperoni in order to double up on the sausage, and it was about as close to perfect as one can expect from a restaurant. One thing that I noticed and really appreciated was that they have an insert in the menu that highlights specialties of this Mellow Mushroom that you can't get elsewhere. It makes me happy that though this is a chain, they still are unique in some ways.

Sweet Thai chili wings are a must try! Went there on Wednesday with a group of people for trivia and we had a great time. I have always had great service, and anytime you go ask for Andrea because she was really great. They have some specialty items going on right now and I ordered the Thai me Up sandwich on a pita bread and it was really delicious. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because there was a lot of cheating going on during trivia and the winner was the person sitting right next to the guy giving out the questions so it was all a little fishy. They also have really great drink specials everyday and we always seem to win a free pitcher of beer everytime we go so that helps haha

I've had carry-out here twice. Orders are ready as promised and value is fair. The jerk chicken hoagie is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while!! The stuffed portobello is a nice meal too. The calzone. . . .a little below average--something about the pepperoni flavor not being robust; or maybe it's the sauce. I'll keep going for the jerk chicken, though!!

Right when entering mellow mushroom you know your around the LSU fans and mellow environment. Has sports and news on to entertain. Service was quick to seat and serve. Appetizers selections are great. There are different choice pizzas to pick from but you can also make your own with the endless varieties ingredients to mix and match. What really puts Mellow's a great place for pizza, for me, is the crust. I usually hate eating the crust but here I can's help eating it all. I only put down a star cause something in my self made pizza triggered a migraine for me so if your sensitive to triggers I would ask on sauces. But if you have no food related problems a 5 star would be here.

One of the best pizza joints. Even though it is a chain, this place has my favorite pizza second to Gino's (AMAZING by the way). It's close to campus so a lot of college kids and their parents will pop up here. The staff is also extremely nice. I'm pretty picky with pizza and this place never fails.

I went here last night and decided on the Marley pizza which was on the list of things only in Baton Rouge. It was delicious and the crust was excellent! We also got a half order of the pretzels and they were great and the beer was cheap. My only complaint was the price. Our pizza only had three toppings and was 23 for a large. Granted it is way delicious, but without any weird toppings (onions, sausage, and jerk chicken) I feel it was a little high.

I went to Mellow Mushroom on Monday night, September 8 and ended up taking a cab home due to the drink specials they had that night. It was $10 all you can drink all night. When I came to get my car the next day, there was an orange sticker on it stating I had violated parking restrictions and my license number had been recorded. There was no sign stating you could not park there or that you could not leave cars overnight. I called to complain about this, and the worker I spoke to would not let me talk to the manager. In addition, they were not apologetic or offered me any reason as to why I had this sticker placed on my car. When I asked who Mellow Mushroom rented from-the owner of the complex- so I could ask about their parking policies, the worker told me she did not know. When I asked if she could find out, she told me to call back later that day and that she did not have time for me. She would not take down my number, so she could call me back. Instead, she refused to get my information. The sticker will not come off of my car. Why would you have such extensive drinking specials if you will not allow cars to be parked there overnight.

Our daughter is a sophomore at LSU and has been raving about this place for awhile. After moving her in last weekend we were all tired and a mess. We ordered a pizza, a salad, and a cheese steak sandwich to go. The pizza was amazing and the cheese steak was a nine out of ten but the salad was warm and limp. They put the salad on top of the pizza that was on top of the oven when I arived for the order. Not a good idea. Again the pizza and sandwich were great ad I have a feeling the salad would have been good also had we ate our meal at "Mellow" as our daughter had suggested. One other complaint is that it cost $40. I wouldn't have expected that at a college town pizza joint but...............

Mellow's biggest problem with me is the consistency. Some days I'll get a great pizza, and some days, it's just meh. They have reasonably priced pies with a good selection of beers and food though, so that's why I keep trying my luck here.
(3)

Mellow Mushroom has a dirty little lovely secret, they will make anything with vegan cheese. That means pizza, calzones, anything! I highly recommend a calzone with vegan cheese and bbq tofu. Another good one is vegan cheese pizza with bbq tofu and sun dried tomatoes. They don't have fries which is disappointing.

This place has it all. Great food (the pizza is amazing), great drinks (shroom tea...watch out!!) and great nightlife. Mellow's bar can be karaoke one night and then a raging dance party the next. All the pizzas, calzones and salads are great.

Brennon C.
The pizza, especially the Philosopher's pie, is delicious. The only thing that I've been noticing is that it's hit and miss with the servers. Most of the girls are awesome, but the last 2 times we were aggravated with the service. But I will definitely be back.

Ok, I really liked this place but am holding out on that magical 4th star. I do love me some pizza, and the sign of a good pizza for me is that I wake up the next morning, the day after that, and the day after that, still craving another slice. I haven't had that feeling (yet)with the pizza here... Overall, I did enjoy the pizza, the atmosphere, and everything else associated with Mellow Mushroom. Prices were reasonable, service was good, and we had enough leftovers so everyone had one slice to take home for breakfast. About the pizza: the dough was a bit heavy, the two meat pies were delicious but the white pizza was just OK. When I ate my crust, it filled me up too much, that it was hard to enjoy another slice. This may also be the large pizzas we ordered; in my quest for the perfect pizza I have realized that sometimes the dough-to-pizza ratio isn't quite right on the larger pizzas for whatever reason. I do think that dough might have a different calling: pretzels. So, I will be back soon to partake in the reasonable pitcher prices, perhaps try a plain cheese pizza (my staple in deciding if I really like a place), and have some pretzels. And by some, I do mean enough to make me look like a total fatty...

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Best pizza in Baton Rouge. I love the choices of pizza sauces and fresh ingredients. I love it! And a great beer selection too.

It's too bad this place is a chain. It feels so local. I love it anyway.

This place has it all. Great food (the pizza is amazing), great drinks (shroom tea...watch out!!) and great nightlife. Mellow's bar can be karaoke one night and then a raging dance party the next. All the pizzas, calzones and salads are great.

The food is great! I love the LilGreek salad (huge!) And all of their pizza combos are delish. The patio outside is also a really nice extension. This is the place to be on Tuesday nights.... shrom tea and karaoke, what else do you need to know?

The pizza here is awesome, and trivia night on Wednesdays is fun. Though it can get really busy, the place handles crowds well.
